The prosecution told the Court how, following an accident in his Range Rover, that was written off in the accident, he provided a sample of breath to the police which contained 62ųg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35ųg. The player, who recently made his first team debut for Manchester United, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity and was disqualified from driving for a period of 18 months. He was also fined £800 with £85 costs and a £80 victim surcharge. He was also offered the drink drivers rehabilitation course, which upon successful completion will reduce his disqualification period by 25%.
