A recent article in the Blackpool Gazette reports that a Police drink driving campaign has seen a reduction in the number of motorists over the limit when behind the wheel. Officers carried out thousands of breath tests on drivers across the region last month and this saw a 25% reduction compared to the same campaign last year.
Out of the 1,109 collisions which police in Lancashire were called to deal with during June 2012, 56 people failed or refused to take a breath test.
Nevertheless, there may be a reasonable excuse for failing to provide a sample of breath. The reasonable excuse can be a physical one, such as a reduced lung capacity or a mental reason such as having a panic or anxiety attack.
