Is it Possible to Avoid Speeding Tickets? 20/12/2010

Of all motoring offence, speeding is perhaps the only one that many people are prepared to risk, whether they are rushing for a particular appointment, or think that they can simply get away with it. However, the dangers of speeding are well known, and therefore only by not speeding will you stay on the right side of the law, and not endanger pedestrians and other drivers.

If you are caught speeding (or presumed to be speeding) there are, however, ways to avoid speeding tickets:

For example, perhaps you were not driving at the time of the offence; this might seem obvious, but if the vehicle is registered to you, you will be liable for a ticket. With this in mind, it is imperative that you return a Notice of Intended Prosecution form, which has the actual drivers details. Failure to do so is an offence in and of itself, punishable by six penalty points.

Sometimes, if the vehicle in question is company vehicle for example, finding out who was driving at the time of offence can be difficult; however as the registered owner of the vehicle the onus is on you to find out who was driving – and therefore you should be prepared to check fuel receipts, phone records and such like, in order to find out.

Often, the conviction itself may be faulty, and therefore can be disputed; this process can be difficult, and involve asking for police photos or videos and therefore if you are having doubts about your conviction it pays to have experienced solicitors like Cunninghams on your side.
