Motoring Offences You Might Not be Aware Of 10/12/2010

Certain traffic offences are well known, and nobody in their right mind would attempt to drive whilst under the influence of drugs or alcohol, for example, However, as well as notorious driving offences, there are some lesser known offences – that might catch you out.

For example, you might be aware that using a mobile phone is a motor offence, however do you also realize that the 2007 mobile phone offence legislation also extends to other similar devices, whether its navigation systems or computer equipment? The thing to remember here, is that anything that distracts you attention whilst you are driving is likely to warrant an offence.

Whilst the logic to not being allowed to use your mobile when driving is perfectly clear, there are also laws that appear to be more arbitrary. For example, if you decide to sleep in your car overnight in a service station, you could be fined. Considering that the dangers of driving when tired are well known this might seem a little counter-intuitive.

Usually, these lesser known offences will not garner significant punishment, and you might be subject to a fine at the very most. By contrast, for more serious crimes the law is perfectly clear, and the punishments suitably severe.

If you are on the wrong end of motoring conviction, an effective defence could be the only way of achieving leniency, which makes it all the more important to choose an experienced defence solicitors such as Cunninghams.
