Cunninghams Driving Defence Solicitors represented Mr M who was charged with offences of driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without due care and attention. Mr M entered a guilty plea at Bexley Magistrates Court in Kent and the case was adjourned as the Magistrates were giving serious consideration to imposing a custodial sentence. Following a lengthy plea and mitigation the Magistrates chose to impose a short period of community service and a small financial penalty rather than sending Mr M to prison. He was also disqualified from driving for a period of 20 months, which would be reduced by 5 months upon successful completion of the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course.
